Will Upper Hutt break the 1000 sales barrier this year?

Continuing on from my last musings 2 weeks ago about how positive the property market is currently, I see that the Real Estate Institute has just released their figures and it’s not just Upper Hutt that is experiencing house price growth.
In January 2016 there were 64 sales in Upper Hutt which is a figure considerably higher than previous January’s in the last few years figures of 46 & 36.
Incidentally, I was asked if I thought Upper Hutt would break the 1000 sale barrier this year? I’m going to wait until after winter to answer that one as the last time that happened was 2007, 9 years ago but I will say 64 sales is a good start!
As at the time of writing of this there 228 properties on www.realestate.co.nz which is a significant number down on the 400 properties for sale at this time last year, and this is a strong reason along with historically low interest rates for our market growth. I accept I’m a tad biased but long may it continue!
