How Is The Market Doing?
Hi folks,
Well it’s that time of the month again, the Real Estate Institute statistics are out and once more, to me at any rate, they make fascinating reading
I am asked on an almost daily basis “How’s the market doing?” I always try to keep my answer as truthful as possible, I don’t want to say it’s a great market if it isn’t so I tend to phrase it in terms of the whole of Upper Hutt not just what I’m doing or what my colleagues at Tommys are doing. In recent times this has meant me saying that “Anecdotally it’s busy”.
The reality is that the market is much the same as 2014, it’s quiet but steady. The difference is that I’ve been super busy and assumed (incorrectly) that it meant the whole market was experiencing a lift in sales.
The reality was brought home by February stats, we show 59 residential sales through the whole of Upper Hutt as opposed to February 2014’s figures of 60 sales. I thought the figure would be in excess of 70 sales making it the busiest selling month in well over a year of sales. There is a reason I should stop predicting, it’s because I’m rarely right! After all I stated that England were going to be semi-finalists in the Cricket World Cup and look how that ended!
I won’t predict any more as I don’t want to jinx anything but I will say “Go the Black Caps”
